अमर शहीद रामफल मंडल

अमर शहीद रामफल मंडल जी का जन्म आज के सीतामढ़ी जिला के बाजपट्टी थाणे के अन्दर मधुरापुर गाँव में ६ अगस्त १९२४ को श्री गोखुल मंडल और गरबी मंडल के घर पैदा हुए थे। ऐसा लगता था वे जन्मजात एक पहलवान थे जिसकी वजह से पुरे गाँव में अपने नाम के बजाय पहलवान जी के नाम से जाने जाते थे। इसी वजह से जब पुरे देश में भारत छोड़ो आन्दोलन में हिस्सा लिए थे इसी क्रम में 24 अगस्त 1942 को बाज़पट्टी चौक पर अंग्रेज सरकार के तत्कालीन सीतामढ़ी अनुमंडल अधिकारी हरदीप नारायण सिंह, पुलिस इंस्पेक्टर राममूर्ति झा, हवलदार श्यामलाल सिंह और चपरासी दरबेशी सिंह को गड़ासा से काटकर हत्या की थी क्योंकि उनपर पुरे गाँव को आग में झोंकने का आरोप था।
 
कैद में लेने के बाद अंग्रेजी सरकार ने उन्हें भागलपुर केंद्रीय कारागार भेज दिया जहाँ उनके ऊपर मुकदमा संख्या – 473/42 दर्ज की गयी और भागलपुर केंद्रीय कारागार में जज माननीय सी आर सैनी जी के न्यायलय में सुनवाई शुरू हुई। दिनांक 15 जुलाई को कांग्रेस कमिटी बिहार प्रदेश में रामफल मंडल एवं अन्य के सम्बन्ध में एसडीओ, इंस्पेक्टर एवं अन्य पुलिस कर्मियों की हत्या के आरोपो पर चर्चा की गयी। जिसके फलस्वरूप बिहार प्रदेश कांग्रेस समिति पटना के आग्रह पर गांधी जी ने रामफल मंडल और अन्य आरोपियों के बचाव पक्ष में क्रांतिकारियों का मुकदमा लड़नेवाले देश के जाने माने बंगाल के वकील सी.आर.दास और पी.आर.दास दोनों भाइयों को भागलपुर भेजा। दिनांक 12 अगस्त 1943 को पहली सुनवाई शुरू हुई थी। आखिरी सुनवाई के बाद जज ने फांसी की सजा दी और उनके लिए फाँसी की तिथि – दिनांक 23 अगस्त 1943 मुक़र्रर की जिसको केंद्रीय कारागार भागलपुर में भी दे दी गयी।
